Hi, i wonder if anyone can help me...

I had menningitis in January 2002 and it left me kinda... ****ed (to be blunt). I have a permanent headache and essential tremor; and about once every three weeks the pain increases to such a level that i fit and black out.
Problem is, no-one knows what is wrong. I've seen countless doctors and consultants, had EEGs, CATs, MRIs, been put under neurological observation for a week, X-rays, osteopathy, homeopathy... but still no-one can even give me a hesitant 'perhaps it's this' daignosis. Which makes it ten times worse.

I was put on Beta-Blockers, ibuprophen, migraine pills, anti-depressants, anti-inflammatories, and a cocktail of other stuff that i don't even want to know about. Nothing yet has stopped the pain.

Last year i took an (unintentional) overdose of brufen and wound up in hospital having my stomach pumped.

A little while later i overdosed on co-proxamol in an effort to stop it hurting once and for all. I was found in time and again, had my stomach pumped.

I got into self harm, cutting and wiring, in an effort to distract from the pain in my head. but this just freaked out my friends and parents.

Now i make hash brownies to cope with the everyday pain. (nothing i've tried has ever come close to stopping the bad pain).

It's expensie, and illegal; and could cost me my career - i'm studying at A level at the moment, but i want to go on to study pharmacology at Cambridge in 2004 - but at least i now have the peace of mind to study.

Does anyone know of a drug that's a gently and effective as cannabis? because i don't want to ruin what's left of my life and career by getting caugh breaking the law...

I don't know of any drug. But I have lived with pain all my life. If you give yourself the chance, your pain threshold will rise. I have broken bones without noticing and then days later going to hospital with a "problem." You can also try to get your mind off yourself. Helping others helps. For example, you might find that others here would benefit from your experiences. You would then be the light.
