feeling of bugs crawling - Open to All Other Health Topics Message Board

There are times that I feel as though there are bugs crawling through my skin mainly on my left side. My neurologist initially thought I was nuts, however, when I once again complained about this horrible sensation, it was then that he labeled it parentethesis. It appears that there is nothing that can be done to alleviate this annoyance.

If there is anyone who might have some insight for me please write. It's easier to deal with when knowing I'm not alone.

mleah~ YOU'RE NOT ALONE~

I have the same sensation. I also experience random twitching and a water running down my body feeling.

I have been to the neurologist and had and emg/nvc test, all was fine.

I get the bug crawling mess along the arches of my feet and calves.

I was given xanax to help deal with these annoying occurences. This med only decreases it some though, but it's better than nothing.

I've been dealing with this since Dec 02,and you know what?? I think we're both stuck with this mess forever.

You both may have what is called "Restless Leg Syndrome".
It is much more common than once thought, and you are certainly not alone. Parasthesia (sensation of tingling and pins and needles...not bugs) may or may NOT be part of what patients describe to their doctors.

A sensation of bugs crawling is a very common complaint and a lot of doctor's do not recognize this as a very real and separate syndrome from parasthesia. They often put it down to "anxiety".

There are other medications out there to help... and ongoing research, discovering new ways to help people with this problem. If you think, upon reading up a bit about this, you might have it, find a neurologist who knows what the hell you're talking about !
