Post i have had more tests, sick of being sick

hello, this is my first post anywhere so i am not sure where to start. as i said i am sick of being sick and tired of being tired. it is a long story but i will try and condense. in dec of 2001, i fell off a ladder and fell 15 ft, i was ok right away but after i had pain in the right side, i was sent for a hida scan and it was said gallbladder was 100% not functioning, two weeks later i was having chest pain, wasn't too worried, friend dragged me to hospital, i ended up with pericaditis and pleural efflusions, the drained 1ltr of fluid fron each lung, gave me predinsone, i also had 2 blood transfusions, my hemoglogin was 7, they say now i have anemia due to chronic diesease( what is the diesease?)so fast forward to today , i still feel like crap i am now depressed and on anti-depressants.i used to work 10-12hr days now i can barely get out of bed. i have pitting edema, anemia, hypertension, sinus arrthmyia and my liver is 19 cm (not sure what normal is)?who knows what is all means. and i have seen more doctors and specialist in the last year and half, i am so done. no one knows why, they just refer me to more doctors, i am on the last straw, i went for my weekly check up on monday and i was told my SED rate is 59 and they don;t know why and i was given prednisone and told to come back in a week.i am so sick of doctors, now i am only 30 years old and am being told i have a chronic condtion that know one know what it is, the worst thing before this was a c-section.well now sure if anyone can help, but i needed to vent.i just feel at a loss,

The first thing you need to do is get a diagnosis for the chronic disease causing your anemia and any other things they say are wrong but didn't give you a diagnosis for. Also you mentioned them telling you what some of your levels were on lab work but they didn't tell what the norm was etc. You either need to ask what the normal level is or go on line and look it up. In the meantime be sure you are taking a good multivitamin as well as a good antioxidant supplement to keep your immune system healthy. You also didn't mention what they did for your gallbladder problem. You also didn't mention what they say you pitting edema and hypertension is caused by. Ask the doc for the diagnosis of each of these that he has on your chart. You might also want to list what medications you currently take to see if someone has some idea as to whether there might be a better alternative out there to what the docs are currently treating you with. Even though you have chronic problems you are very lucky as a friend of mine fell off a roof when he unhooked his safety harness and is paralyzed from the waist down. Post more info and hopefully someone might have some better suggestions.

Write everything down. Every symtom, every question, and go back to your doctor. Sometimes we seem to freeze as soon as we're "on the table" and leave without knowing why we were there in the first place!
You mentioned a c-section. When was that? Was your hemaglobin checked throughout your pregnancy? Have you been feeling like this since your c-section? Or even before that?
Pregnancy can really drain women of a lot of our essential iron and vitamins. Was the c-section because of a high risk pregnancy? Hyper tension, gestational diabetes?
Try to use your search engine and type in any symptoms, any complications, any test results.
I've found over the years we have to be pro-active with our health care. Research and book a "talk" appt. (they allow more time for that). Ask questions, ask for answers. WHAT chronic disease is this???!!! Does it have a name? Sit and talk until you get some answers and write EVERYTHING down.
After that, if you are still not satisfied, come back to the board. Among all the posters surely there wil be someone who can help. ( maybe try the "womens health" forum)
Hope you keep in touch. You never know, maybe someone on this board has had the same experience and can shed some light....Tagger

I know what you mean. It took me months to finally get a diagnosis and treatment that works. Unfortunately, the treatment includes meds that cause edema, anemia, weight gain, the list goes on. I'm finallly weaning off some of them and hoping many of these will go away but I will just have to wait and see.

I agree that you need to write everything down and make sure your doctor answers any questions you have. Your doctor(s) should be willing to explain any procedure or results. If not, find someone else.

It took me months, an unecessary surgery that worsened my condition, and almost losing my leg before I found someone who diagnosed what I have. I didn't give up in my pursuit of a diagnosis and eventually received the appropriate treatment. It is possible. Don't give up.

thanks to everyones help.i have tried to ask the family doctor tons of questions, i have the emeda , right ventricalar hypertension, and sinus arrthymia, all cause from the damage done to my heart from the pericartitis. and the anemia seems to bee the stumpper, i am not iron deficent but my hemoglobin is around 9 or lower. i just have to see about this SED rate test, normal it seems is 0-20 and mine is 49. so again thanks for the help, i am just feeling lost out there in this sea of doctors i have, and the brush off answers i get, i tell them i am in pain and instead of finding out why, i get a bottle of painkillers, same with the legs, i told my doctor, my legs and ankles were swelling up, tells my to get compression stockings, which do help, but why are they still swelling. anyways i have vented again, thanks again to everyone
