Post whos skinny here? i bet im skinnier than all of you :(

hi, i am 20 years old. i am 6ft and weigh only about 120 lbs. this really stinks. i used to weigh 132 which is still really thin of course. but then i started losing some weight after going into some anxiety. so i started losing my appetite a little. one day i was in the weight room at school lifting weights and i must have exhausted my body because that was when i had my first attack with my heart rate at like 200bpm. ever since then my muscles have been twitching all over and im really scared i have ALS or something. i've had many tests though and all is normal. i dont know if my body will ever recover. im just full of anxiety and twitching now i am really trying to eat now in hopes of gaining weight and then maybe my anxiety will go away.

John~

Please don't feel so down. My 17 year old son is almost 6 feet and he's 125lbs. So ya'll are about the same. Guess what...he's not a twitcher...I am though.

I've been twitching for about 9 months now. I've had all the tests too. They say mine is from anxiety also.
At one point I thought I could have ALS but I don't and you don't either.

Did your doc tell you, you have benign fasciculation syndrome(BFS)=benign twitching syndrome. I could almost bet that's what you have..exact same thing as I. I am a nervous person and from your post, you are also. Basically it's an over abundance of adrenaline going through our bodies for whatever reason(anxiety is my bet). My neurologist told me that it could go away in a few weeks, months, years or never. Our systems could be permanently altered. Please don't be saddened by this one sentence. People LIVE with abnormalites all the time..diabetes, arthritis, kidney&liver problems and we all live with these conditions, we just adjust.

Yours might even go away completely

Did your doc give you any meds, such as:xanax, klonopin to help with feeling less anxious??

Please don't let this make you sick into losing weight. You're a young HEALTHY young man, with much going for you. Don't let this destroy your life.

Now go eat a pizza and try to relax and live your life to the fullest.

Remember, we're twitchers and we're neighbors(I live in Houston.. )

Relax,
Renee

wow thanks for the great post. yeah i love to visit houston all the time but yeah my doctor gave me xanax but im not the type to take meds. i did have a tumor in one of my adrenal glands when i was 8 years old so it was removed and now i have one adrenal gland. i was checked again for the tumor but my other gland is fine now. i am wondering if it still may be shooting too much adrenalin into my body. but i mean my adrenal hormones are normal. i dont know. guess i'll just have to live with this. one thing is for sure though, i have been eating a lot more and im starting to feel a bit better. when i was 17 i was 132 i think but somehow lost it. my neurologist did tell me it was bfs, but then i got scared cause now i have chronic pain in my left thigh when i sit down. anyhow, im just gonna have to deal with this and since im still growing up, hopefully i will grow out of this. but i have a fear that im not gonna grow anymore or get older which is kinda funny. i just need to chill out; thanks for your wise words
oh does your son complain of palpitations a lot? cause i get those a lot; a lot of tall skinny people do

John~

Good saturday morning to ya'!

As a matter of fact my son DOES get palpatations. When it happens, he turns into that little boy I used to have. I have to talk him through it because it scares him.

I'm 5'9 and weigh 135 and I get palpatations also. I don't know what it is about height and palpatations, but it seems alot of tall people go through this. Oh and another thing you have in common with my son is the leg pain. He's had this since 5 grade. The doc did tell us there is such a thing as "growing pains" that really does hurt. You're right you still are growing. My brother-in-law 6'4 was only 6 feet at high school graduation and continued to grow to 6'4 and stopped at 23. So "we" tall people have alot to deal with..besides the "do you play basketball" question

Have fun today, and a beautiful day in Texas it is!
Be a kid, go to Schlitterbahn, ride the masterblaster HEE HEE, I love that ride. When I go there I'm 20 years old again, but my son still doesn't want to hang out with me

You take care, and don't worry..you have my permission to worry when your 70 years old, not before.

Renee
