Since he won't and can't see a doctor i've been trying to find out what is wrong with him and if it is really serious or merely a result of stress. These episodes have been occurring off and on now for about 2 years. Could this lead to serious complications? Does anyone know what might be wrong? I'm sorry to hear about your friend, and you're a great friend to try to help.
The dizziness, hyperventilation, fatigue and malaise are all anxiety symptoms, that is assuming there's no other underlying problem.
The coughing up blood is a concern though, and he really needs to get this treated. I've been researching and reading up on anxiety for a few years now and have never heard this to be related, so to me, it's a physical problem that he needs to get checked.
Sounds like there's a problem in his stomach - maybe the lining, or an ulcer, but i'm certainly no expert. All I know is that when my brother coughed up blood he went straight to the doctors - i think his stomach lining was ruptured from drinking or something.
Good luck convincing him, perhaps you could go to for support.
