Hi, I'm new to these boards.

For about the past two weeks, I've had a white lump in the back of my throat/mouth. It's on the far back left of my mouth; I can easily see it if I lower my tongue.

For a few days, I felt some slight discomfort swallowing. I then used a flashlight and looked in my mouth, and thought I saw a small piece of apple that was somehow stuck. I tried various things, until I realized that it was not moving, it was attached somehow to the surface.

Now, I seem to have no symptoms other than a slight difficulty in swallowing, and perhaps a slight cough and slight dehydration (dry throat). Otherwise, I feel fine. I don't have a runny nose, I don't feel run down, or anything. There's no pain involved, and no bleeding.

Is this just some infection that will go away? Could it be something more serious like oral cancer? Thanks for any tips. I may have to make the trip to the dreaded student health center at my college.
