Unhappy pain after cast removal

HI, I fell and broke my wrist about 7 weeks ago. I had a cast for 6 weeks which was removed last week. I have been experiencing pain in my wrist since the day after cast removal. It is never in the same place and keeps me awake at night. I have been taking ibuprofen but it does not help much. Is it usual to have pain after cast removal? Sometimes it is a dull ache, sometimes a sharp jabbing pain, sometimes cramp like pain. I have a brace the doctor gave me but it doesn't help much. I am 56 years old. Any suggestions sure would be appreciated. I need some sleep. Thanks.
