swollen lymph node

about 2 months ago i noticed like a lump or something in the side of my neck. after a few weeks i forgot about it, until a few days ago when i felt my neck and noticed it was still there only it is a bit smaller and slightly softer. i also noticed it seems to more like a tube shape. is it a node or something else?

If this lump wasn't there until two months ago, it is very likely swollen lymph node. This is usually a sign of infection or cancer. If it is located more in the front, it may be related to thyroid.

Re: swollen lymph node

Bob1988,
I had the same thing a few years ago. I had, had a throat infection and after it had gone I noticed that there was a lump on the right hand side of my neck, I also ignored it for a few months. When I finally went to the doctors who confirmed it was a swollen lymph node, I was sent for blood test and to have cells taken from the lump. All the results came back clear, but because it was not going down on it's own I had it removed. I was in and out of the hospital in a couple hours, the swelling the next day was horrific but appart from that there was nothing to it. I am sure all will fine with you but you should get it looked at.
