Jaw Pain

Does anyone has jaw pain before? My left side jaw was popping alot and then suddenly the pain started... It's 2 weeks plus already and the doctor can't do anything to help me. Does anyone has experience in 'eliminating' the pain?

Have you looked up TMJ(D) ?? Sounds like that is what you might have. i have it also....mine isn't too bad but my GP couldn't do anything for me...My dentist made me a splint which has helped somewhat. Hope this helps a little!

Re: Jaw Pain

My guess is TMJD as well (btw everyone has a TMJ I just chuckle when someone says I have TMJ! hehe)
You should see an orthodontist to have it xrayed / looked at.
Like Meredith said, a bite plate will help tons when you are sleeping and most health insurance companies will pay for it. They take some getting used to and there are all types. I had one one that was this ultra heavy clunky piece of clear plastic I hated. The last one I had was actually like a denture, you could hardly tell it was there.

Re: Jaw Pain

Yes, had this for about 4 weeks before I finally went to the dentist. He figured it out immediately. Made a splint that I could wear at night or whenever I was under stress. I helped a lot and have not suffered since then.
