HELP!! Itching!!! No rash!!

My son, 19 has been itching for four days. His ears, legs, arms, back, chest itch. He constantly scratches for no apparent reason, no rash, no redness, no bumps. Tried Benadryl, gold bond lotion, no improvement. I've read something about Hodgkins Lymphoma and itching. But he doesn't have any swollen nodes that I can feel or any other symptoms. Any clues people????? He's never had any allergies either. Thanks

Re: HELP!! Itching!!! No rash!!

Medications containing codiene can cause itching.

Meds used in dental work can also cause itching.

A new or different laundry detergent may cause itching.

A food allergy can cause itching. Has he eaten anything different?

If the answer is no to the above, best to see the doctor for proper diagnosis.

Sunburn, heat, exces sweating, fungal infections all can itch without visible changes.
Bile acids in liver disease and phosphate in kidney disease also cause itching.

Re: HELP!! Itching!!! No rash!!

lymphoma is a very rare cause of itching and if there are no other signs of lymphoma can be discounted

Re: HELP!! Itching!!! No rash!!

Thanks, it has been very hot and he sweats we live in the So Ca. desert. He'll see a doctor if it doesn't improve in a couple days, not the weather, but the itching. Thanks..
