I've had my belly button pierced twice and both times it rejected it and started looking like it was just going to fall out. I cleaned it twice a day and put neosporin on it. Does anyone know why this happened? I'd really like to have the piercing again; is there anyone I can? I'd appreciate any help!
Many navel rejections have to do with the shape of your navel. Some navels just aren't piercable, unfortunately, and no matter how much you clean it or how well you take care of it, it will surely reject. The only thing I could think to try is to get it pierced super-deep with a spiral or custom barbell, but even that may not work. That's what I did.. and my navel would be a textbook example of a "non-piercable" navel.. it did work out for a few years until it started to form a keloid from improper jewelry circumference and I removed it voluntarily. Talk with someone at a local and reputable piercing studio about it. Good luck.
Some people's bodies just won't accept certain piercings. Also, you may have been sensitive to the type of metal in your jewelry. Did you use surgical steel, or another hypoallergenic metal like platinum?
I'm pretty sure it was surgical steel. Does this mean that my body will reject all piercings? Is there anyway I can get it pierced again and it will stay? I'm chubby; does that maybe have anything to do with it? Not like obese; just not thin...
Chances are it was SS. If you want to take the chance and try again let it first heal then ask for a titanium ring you shouldn't have any problems with it. Same with other piercings try to go for titanium if having issues such as redness, swelling and itching when wearing earrings/body jewelry.
I agree with Kissa. IF you have it done again, use a titanium, platinum or niobium ring instead of SS. However, I'm guessing your body just won't accept that type of piercing.
This happened to me twice. I later found out I am allergic to nickel and cobalt--this may have something to do with it. It also rubbed on the waist band of my clothes. I have just accepted the fact that I don't do well with piercings...now I get tattoos =)
