Exclamation Ent Trouble

hiya,

i had an inflammed gland in my throat about 5 years ago and it is still there, the docs say its just inflammed and will cause more damage taking it out.

my problems started with the inflammed gland 5 years ago, then i started to feel a lump sensatation in the left hand side of my mouth and that side was very salivia producing. then i could only breath thorugh 1 nostral, ENT gave me a septoplasty, (nasal cavity straightening) then 1 year on, no good. this time they tried a tonsilectamy, which also had no effect,

and now my next sympton is my left ear constantly wanting to pop. and i constantly have to blow my nose and cough because i am producing excess mucous for some reason

the docs just keep giving me nasal sprays which do nothing whatsoever

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE SHED SOME LIGHT ON THE MATTER

Re: Ent Trouble

Hi, Are you still having these problems .. you symptoms sound very similar to mine I have been having this same "inflammation" problem in my throat for over 1.5 years, have had gerd in the past. ENT has had me through all the normal tests for cancer. After 1 year of testing all that has come from it is that "your throat is inflammed". keep on the PPI's.

Getting sick of this inflammation "lump" feeling in my throat. Have you found anything new out?

Thanks!

This problem sounds slightly similar to mine. I have trouble breathing through both nostrils, as well as the mouth. However, it is the right nostril that I have more trouble breathing through. Go ahead and click on my name, and then "Find all posts by DJBucs2005" for the problems I have. I have made plenty of posts about them. Doctors have given me nasal sprays..nothing it has had zero effect. The two ENT's I have seen have said that my tonsils aren't big enough to be causing a breathing problem, which makes me think it could be the adenoids instead OR as well, OR another problem in addition to OR instead. "Another problem" could be something like this. Either some kind of nasal cavity straightening or maybe some kind of upper airway obstruction. What exactly is the "inflamed gland" in your throat you are talking about? I am thinking about getting my tonsils out, since they are pretty big, and I don't know what else could be causing the problem.

I'm starting to get so depressed about having this breathing problem, and feeling hopeless about it....It's getting so old.....I got in a big arguement with my mom about this earlier this evening. I want to get another opinion (if you actually care..go ahead and read my other posts by doing what I said earlier for more info about my previous opinion); an opinion from a place that our insurance may not be covering costs from. She was really making me mad with the "What if's" "What if you get another opinion, and they don't think the tonsils are the problem?" I really have faith in the place I want to go to though. It's a University Hospital, one of the better one's in the nation, and their ENT department is highly rated as well. I think unlike the other two ENT's I went to, they'd actually perform some tests on me, and try to figure out what the problem is. The thing though..is that my mom is such a cheapo...and doesn't want to pay for the potential tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy surgery out of her own pocket. Here's a difficult situation though. She actually said she would wait a year (I really dont' buy it) to switch medical insurance companies...no idea how she could do that..since our medical insurance company if provided by my dad and his work...I don't think you get to just pick your own insurance company if it's being provided to you for free. She would do this so that the surgery at the University Hospital and any other tests would be covered. I don't want to wait that long!!!! I was REALLY looking forward to getting these out before the spring, so I can run track again this year.

Re: Ent Trouble

it' mainly my left nostral that i have the trouble with, however it swap to the right occasionally! i went to the docs agian the other day because i coughed quite hard and a big lump of bloody phlem came up. so he gave me some more anti-biotics and told me to carry on using the nasal sprays, I'm on the ENT waiting list though which is a good thing.

I think the problem is down to over production of mucus, but i don't know how to stop/reduce this production
