How long for strep to clear??? - Open to All Other Health Topics Message Board

Today I went to the doctor and found I had strep ~.~ Anyways, he wrote a doctor's note saying to stay out of work until Friday evening. I told this to my manager and he told me that that won't be long enough, and that I have to be certified as 100% strep-throat free by a doctor and get it signed or something until I'm allowed back to work, that it's against the law or something. Any idea how long this will take until I'm totally cleared? What does that even mean? People are telling me it takes a week or so.

if they gave you anything for it, i know they say to take the full amount which is 10 days worth.. i'd say by the end of 10 days you should be in the clear..

No after 3 days on antibiotics you should be in the clear for work and stuff like that. I have always had reuccuring strep and actually had my tonsils removed for that reason well that and the size of my tonsils. If u are worried you can go back to the dr and have them give u a shot of penicillian in the hip to clear it up quicker.

My husband gets strep throat all the time, several times per year. It can be catchy, you will probably won,t feel better until a couple of day on antibiotics, and after two full days on antibiotics no one will be able to get it from you. This is what our doctor told us cause we have two little kids and we then have to be real careful so my husband doesn,t have too much close contact with the kids. Sandra
