Left leg swollen - Open to All Other Health Topics Message Board

I have had some back problems lately which caused some pain in my right area of the SI joint, that is almost gone. Yesterday there was pain on the left side of the hip and my left leg has swollen. I have been taking Ibuprofen for the pain for about a week and sitting more than I normally do. Could either one of those be causing the swelling? Or do you suspect another cause?

I'd suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible. All of the cases I've heard of people with swelling in the legs turned out needing to be treated very quickly. I don't remember what they specific diseases were, unfortunatly.

I agree that you should see your doctor as soon as possible. This could be caused by a blood clot , varicose veins, heart problems (although that tends to happen to both legs). Pregnancy or obesity can do this too. In any case a change like this needs to be evaluated by the doctor. I would be curious to know what caused the swelling-could you let us know?
