Red face Well, I went to the doctors..

I had no strep throat. I have not had any soar throats with this cold..

I told him about me coughing blood, he asked if I had any nose bleeds. I told him yes. When I blow my nose, I had some blood on the tissue everytime I put it in my nose. He said that it's normal to get a nose bleed during a cold. And sometimes the blood from your nose gets into your throat.
I also told him about my glands being swollen. He said it was no big deal. I was sick so it was an obvious reason at the time.
I also had a fever during the checkup. 108 or something(I forgot, 108 is probably too high )..
He also was listening to my breathing. According to him it sounded normal. But then why does my chest hurt still when I cough or breath sometimes? Alot of times? I still feel some fever and chills. Like today at work, I just felt like crud.. Maybe it's cuz I have been standing all day being a greater(I hate when they put me there )? But I usually don't feel that way. Also a couple of days ago, a co worker said I looked alittle pale. Never told that to the doc tough.. forgot, but then again, I was not pale anymore.. (I wonder how we mexicans get pale ) ..

The doc just prescribed me some cold pills and cough drops..

He said it was just a minor infection.. That was one mean minor infection

Re: Well, I went to the doctors..

I think when your doc says it's a minor infection, he means that it's most likely viral, but it's not serious enough to warrant going to the hospital. So you just get to fight it off and be miserable in the meantime. I agree that your fever was probably not 108. If it was, you would possibly be dead... definitely not be at home! But still, if you have a high fever you should not go to work. You should stay home and rest so you get better.

Re: Well, I went to the doctors..

I just want you to know my opinion on this matter. It is not to scare you by any means but it could also be what is going on with you...I had the same thing happen to me and I went to the ER because of the coughing up of blood. It also hurt when I would take a deep breath. they did a chest x-ray and all looked good and they thought it was just a viral thing but did another test just to be sure and I ended up having 3 blood clots in my lungs. the test they did is called a d-dimer test and normal levels are 1-400 and mine was 2120 so I was super sick. They did a cat scan to see where the clots were and they were in my lungs as I stated before and was admitted to intensive care for 1 week and was given blood thinning meds untill my numbers came down and now I will take coumadin for the rest of my life. Please be very persistant and not just give in to what the doc said. my family doc said he would have just sent me home with meds and never thought of a blood clot and he was very impressed that the hospital ran that life saving test for me.

oh dang! sorry you went through all that..

what caused those clots?

also, if the medicine he prescribed me does not help, I'll go see him again. How long should I wait and see if it persists??
