3 doctors and a dentist CAN'T diagnose me... - Open to All Other Health Topics Message Board

I really need some help as I have been to 3 doctors, (2 internal medicine, 1 ENT), and my dentist, and none of them know what is going on in my mouth.

Over the last year I have developed severe whitish/yellow coated tongue which will not go away no matter what I try, and it always feels very dry and sandy in the back. I've tried several products for intibacterial spraying, brushing, scraping, etc. and it is only reduced a little bit, but comes right back. I drink plenty of fluids, and do not think it's from dehydration.

And now in addition to that, I have developed tiny bumps all over the rear ROOF of my mouth that will not go away, and the whole thing feels like I have sand in the back of my mouth.

The doctors all say, "hmmm, could be geographic tongue, but I'm not sure", and the dentist says "I have no idea, better go see your doctor".

I know there is something wrong with me as I have never had anything like this in my whole life until about a year ago right after I had a strange bout of gasteroenteritis, in which I had to go to the ER. Ever since then I have never been quite the same with my digestion, and started developing these problems about two months after that.

I am at a loss, and am sick of paying so many medical bills only to find out that doctors have no interest in doing investigative medicine. Does anyone have a clue as to what my problem might be???? It's starting to make me insane!! Thanks for any help you can give..

Did any of the Drs say anything about thrush? Its a candida yeast overgrowth. Try eating some yogurt or get a good probotic. A yeast overgrowth can also cause digestive problems.

No of course none of them said anything about that. They said it didn't seem like a fungal infection.

Could a yeast overgrowth also cause the bumpy, sandy feeling on tongue and roof of mouth?

sounds like thrush.....try acidophillus from the health food store....only purchase the kind that you have to keep in the fridge. Also, you could try the new Dannon Immuno drink.....tastes great and it helps the immune system and because it is yogurt based will probably help your issue as well. The drink comes in a pack of four 2 oz drink bottles. Drink one a day...maybe two if you issue is bad.......see if this helps.

It's weird that I have now had this for over a year. Can something like a yeast infection last that long?

I also notice that it gets much worse covering my entire tongue, when I am stressed or tired. Not sure what to do, but maybe I will try some of your suggestions. I don't understand why none of the doctors would take a sample or try to figure out what it might be. I'm not a doctor, how am I supposed to diagnose this?

It's disturbing also to see that sometimes this can be related to diabetes, or even HIV. I certainly hope it's none of those!
