I recently found out that I have arterial blockages in both of my thighs, one quite serious one on the right thigh. My doctor has advised me that in as much as I am not haveing a great deal of pain and can get around well, plus the fact that I do not have discoloration or ulcerations, he does not feel I should have arterial bypass at this point. I would appreceiate any feed back by another individual that has faced such a recent diagnosis also and how you are dealing with and handling your situation ?? I will have a dobbler ultra sound on Friday Jan. 13,2006 to check my abdominal aorta as well as the carotoid artery in my neck. I must admit at this point I am quite apprehensive of receiving further bad news regarding other blockages in these areas also.

Hi Joel. The only experience I have, is that I recently had a doppler exam for circulation in my lower legs. I am a senior and noticed that I could not walk as far as I used to - put it down to aging. But then it got worse until half a block was about as far as I got before my muscles cramped up and I had to stop and rest. I never did get results and this got overshadowed by more pressing health concerns. It sounds like your doctor is being conservative, but still investigating - which is probably a good thing.
