| Re: Anybody know anything about colon cleansing?
I would think it depends on who you talk to. There are advocates of colon cleansing by means of what's referred to as "colonic irrigation, a.k.a. a High tech enema". Its a practice where a machine or a gravity system is used to introduce water into your colon, and unlike an enema, you just remain in place and the waste is discharged into a tube which has been inserted, designed to carry the waste away. The input and output are controlled by a therapist. They also control the temperature and pressure of the introduced water. Now that's somewhat different from an enema which is a simple bag and tubing, after which a tolerable amount of water is introduced, you go to the bathroom and discharge into a commode. There are various size enema bags and relating tubing as well. Everything from a simple drug-store bought $2.00+ Fleet Bagenema to very exclusive and elaborate bags that run into the 100s of dollars. So you'll find advocates of these practices out there who are using either colonics or enemas for detoxing.
Now there are those who agree with letting the body do its own natural cleansing. Some otheres do a colon cleanse via various products taken orally that help with the elimination process.
And what you may have heard about regarding the skeptical outlook by the medical community has been espoused. Many in the medical community don't believe or practice these methods, especially for detoxing. Though remember, for certain pre-op procedures one might well be subjected to a regular tap water enema or enemas or in the case of radiological procedures, be given a barium enema.
But do more research and make your own choices.
