Hi Everyone

Its my frist time posting here. Anyway i am a 23 year old male and i recently had a hernia operation on sept 16th 2005. Anyway I've just noticed today that i've been urinating blood!! Its never happened before, and i'm not sure if because the operation has not fully recovered. The only thing i can think of that MAY be the cause is that during the week i've been doing a lot of heavy lifting for work.

I find that i urinate blood not all the time, only on and off. For example I would urinate blood now, then the next time it would be all fine and no trace of blood. After I do some activities, or sleep on my stomach i find that i tend to urinate blood. What i find is that i also urinate small clumps of semi-solid red stuff which to me seems like traces of scabs. What i can conclude is that i am bleeding somehwere in that region, not sure where (bladder??). The bleeding would "scab", but when i do physical activities it would somehow pull the scab off and i would bleed again. does this conclusion sound right??

I have a girlfriend and we never have had intercourse before.

Would would u suggest I do? Its only been like less that 24 hours since i started urinating blood (on and off).

Call your doctor or the emergency room and tell them what is going on! Take your temperature to see what it is at. You do know that you shouldn't have anything by mouth at least 5min. before taking your temp. leave you mouth closed the whole 6min.s while taking your temp. too. Put the thermometer as far back in the side of the mouth as possible also. If you have an infection it will be running at least 101 for a temp. If your body is fighting off some bacteria it will be elevated but usually not as high as 101....but I would call in and talk to someone about it right away.

aww crap.. that bad??? Hmm.. if my temp was like that high i would be like having a fever or a cold sweat symptoms yea? Physically i'm feeling fine (no fever or anything like that). I just had a pee 10 mins ago and no blood. I will go see the doctor first thing on Monday (right now 12.30am sunday morning).

I forgot to add that my urine is not dark red, but mixed with urine and blood like cordial (when i do urinate blood).

Man, this is scaring me. drs, thanks for your post. i don't have a thermometer though.. but if i get any fever like symptoms or my urine is dark red colour i'm going straight to hospital.

You might consider getting a sample of the "bloody" urine for the doc too.

starsofglass, good idea. I woke up this morning and there were no traces of blood at all in my urine, probably the bleeding clogged up during the night. I'm not sure if i will bleed again today and i hope not! If i don't tomorrow i'll still head down to the docs.
