last august dallas had a fogging campaign where they sent out fogging trucks to kill mosquitos during the west nile virus scare. i didn't have a/c at the time so all the windows in my home were open. i did not know the truck was coming to fog the area so i was not able to close them in time to keep the pesticide fog out. i didn't bother to close them since that would have just kept the pesticide in my house. i ran to some higher ground to avoid the fog since i figured it was heavier than air. i was there for a good while (i'm thinking 30 minutes) waiting for the fogging trucks to move on to another area. i became pretty dizzy.

what sort of long term and short term effects could be had from this exposure?

Well, let's just say when I was a kid (let's say about 7 or 8) our area used to spray mosquitos with the truck and all the neighborhood kids along with myself used to run BEHIND this truck all the time, IN that fog all the while he was spraying! I don't recall how often it was, but we did it a number of times! I am 47, I have no problems at all, I've never even had bronchitis in my life, and all my friends that used to live in that area are still around and still fine (the ones I still KNOW about, my parents are still in that area so I would have heard if something bad happened to a child of one of those neighbors). So I really wouldn't worry about it at all.

I had the same thing happen to me in Arlington about 46 years ago and I also was dizzy, but, survived and do not know of any complications, however, it certainly was not good for my body I am sure. Back then they were using DDT.

Toxic chemicals can affect each individual differently, so I think it is a good idea to try to avoid the area when they are fogging. Didn't they give some type of notice that they were going to be fogging the area? If they didn't give a notice at all, that's negligence on their part.

they do it via the news... they coulda mailed me a letter or something... specially considering i don't watch the news much.
