A deep cut on thumb Need Help

Hello, my mom has recently cut her thumb badly. It was cut by a potato skinner, so it is a chunk out of her thumb, and stitches will simply not possible. We have already seeked the advice of a doctor, but it was very brief. Here is the main problem. We are wrapping it with special gauze, that is supposedly non stick, and we were told it was the best we can buy. However when we change out the bandages, it is taking flesh with it. It is still sticking. She has been soking it in water, but it still isnt working well, and she is in a lot of pain. I think we can try and go with on bandage if the bleeding stops, but I could use some suggestions asap. Thanks a lot, Brad

Re: A deep cut on thumb Need Help

Putting antibiotic ointment on the cut will help keep the gauze from sticking and also protect from infection.

Each time the gauze sticks and is pulled off, it will open the wound and will have to heal all over again.

Soaking thumb in water before removing gauze will also help it to release, or should.

Her thumb will be painful for a while. I cut chunk off my finger with kitchen knife and it took a long time to heal.
