Tonsillectomy - Excess Spit

I just got a tonsillectomy three days ago, and ever since I have been generating alotr of excess spit. How can I get rid of this problem? I heard that chewing gums helps, but I am in so much pain that I can't chew gum.

Thanks,
DAVE

Re: Tonsillectomy - Excess Spit

I had this too, and very thick. I couldn't swallow it so I did a lot of spitting. Drink lots and lots of water (I liked it icy cold) to thin out the mucous. I know it's hard but if you keep hydrated you will feel better. Good luck, I feel your pain!

There isn't any mucus, and the spit isn't very thick; There is just a LOT of it.
I will try your advice though.

Thanks!

Re: Tonsillectomy - Excess Spit

Well then, it'll probably just take some time. You should be feeling better in a few days. But do take my advice on the water. It made my recovery much faster.
