Exclamation Toe infection

about 3 weeks ago i was clipping my toenails and i must have nicked the skin a little and didnt notice, a few days after it started to hurt severely, i thought i may have run into something but then i found out it was infected, so ive been putting peroxide on a few times a day, using neosporin, and epsom salt soak and it will not go away! i dont have medical insurance right now, can someone give me a few more home remedies or advice on how to get rid of this, its been going on too long and i cant wear normal shoes because of the pain, it even hurts at night because of the blanket!

Re: Toe infection

Well, first you need to soak it in water that's as hot as you can handle. That will draw the infection (puss) up to the surface. Then clip a hole in the skin over the infection and try to mash as much of the infection out as you can. It will hurt so you may need someone to help you. Then clean it out with peroxide (or alcohol if you can stand it). Put POLYSPORIN on it - not neosporin. THen a bandage. It may take several days of this to clean it out. If you get a red line from the infection going up the toe, you'll need to go to the doctor as the infection will be spreading and you'll need an antibiotic. Good luck!
