Question Calcium interferring with prescriptions?

Is it true that calcium supplements and antacid preparations can alter the effetiveness of certain medications and herbal supplements?

Also, I drink a glass of orange juice every morning which has calcium in it. I also take my morning pills with the orange juice. Does that mean that the calcium in the orange juice will not make my medications and herbal supplements as effective?

I appreciate any input I receive about these concerns. Thanks.

Re: Calcium interferring with prescriptions?

Hi Sara. Many supplements can interfere with medications and other supplements. Check the pharmacy print-out for the meds you are taking, it should list things that could interfere with its effectiveness. You may need to space them further apart. You can always call the pharmacist and ask also.
