anyone remember me? update

Hi, my s/o quit his job, he has no medicine... he still is very dizzy and having all the afore mentioned symtoms... He never did go to the eye doctor. Now we have no insurance for him. I did get a job, but it doesn't offer insurance... so I don't really know what to do. I was thinking he could just wait this out and get another MRI in another year 1/2. See what it showed. I'm trying to see this as a good thing, because without a diagnoses he can still get insurance, correct? If anyone remembers me & my posts please reply back... thanks.

Re: anyone remember me? update

i do remeber the name fallen, really, but cannot remeber the details of your hubbys situation.could you just do a quick readers digest version here so we don't have to go looking up all the posts?some of us cannot DO some things these days or it is very difficult.it would help you alot to.does he happen to qualify for disability?he wouldn't be able to get ins right away, but if awarded,he would at least be bringing in an income and also would eventually be qualified for medicare.mine just went thru as of the first of sept.its around a two year wait.i know that sucks but its something to consider anyways.

when i have more time(got an appt in a half an hour) i will see if i can find all of the previous posts for the details.i really am sorry for your situation.FB

Re: anyone remember me? update

hi, thanks for responding. I'm the girl who was writing about my s/o who got sick in June. Lets see, more details... his symptoms are dizziness (not the spinning kind), exstreme fatigue (seems worse now than it was), weakness all over, weakness that just kind of hits him in bouts in his hands and feet, occasional numbness in one side of his head, swallowing problems, (constantly clears throat after eating, feels like there is always something stuck in his throat) tingling and pins and needles in his legs (but may just be restless leg syndrome) recent forgetfullness and feeling like he is in a fog.

He has had oodles of blood work which turned up nothing, including tick tests, (not western blot though) no spinal tap but did have a mri of the brain which showed nothing. left looking at most probably MS, seeing as how we haven't found anything else, at least two doctors told him that's what they thought it was but wouldn't diagnose... Neuro unhelpful only wanted to treat RLS, and Internal medicine doctor was very very unhelful (only tested for hepatitis) So before he lost his insurance all we had was regular family doctor... I had to get a job, because he was having such a hard time at work, we knew it was only a matter of time. He just couldn't do that job anymore. It was a physical job that he did very very well for almost 7 years. But when I got a job, I couldn't help with doctors' appts like calling them and making sure he brought up the important stuff instead of them just treating stupid stuff like RLS when that wasn't even the problem we were there for to begin with!! Also we never got to take him to the eye doctor which I figure would have helped with a diagnoses.... I don't know... that's some info for ya, thanks for reading all...

Re: anyone remember me? update

Fallenleaf,

Your story is like so many others. If the brain MRI cames back normal, neuro's stop the testing. There are so many other test that aide in the diagnosis of MS.MRI of c-spine and thoracic, lumbar puncture, evoked potentals.

Can you apply for state insurance?

I went 2 years monkeying around with Drs.after 11 different specialist I received a DX for MS in June. The symptoms you described are constistant with MS,but other disorders as well.

I have read that many MS patients are finding great success with the swank diet in releiving some of the symptoms .I have been taking b12 and alpha liphoric acid and it has helped with numbness and tingling these are just some thoughts.

Yes,you should be okay on insurance.

Re: anyone remember me? update

i am unfortunetly running late but just wanted to mention as far as him being able to at least obtain his meds?contact,i think its called partners for pain or one of the places listed at the top of the pain management board down below?these are the places where you can obtain your hubbys meds for practically nothing.or even totally free.it all depends on your situation, but having no insirance is the big qualifier with the majority of these programs.even contacting the actual drug manufacturers that make his meds would help too.almost all drug comp now offer these types of free med programs.at least he would still be able to obtain his meds.just a thought.i will anser more in depth tomorrow,K? hang in there fallen,FB
