recovering from 3 level fusion Questions???

Hi, this is my first time here. My 61 year old mother had a decompression and L4/5 S1 fusion with hardware. She is 10 days post op and I am wondering if she is recovering normally. The nurses make me feel like she is not doing well. She was on morphine 15mg every 4 hours and darvocet x 2 every 4 hours, and valium 5 mg every 6 hours. The pain was horrible and not under control. So she was given 50mg Lyrica 3 times a day. This has seemed to help, but she cannot sit up for more than an hour or 2. She is extremely tired, lethargic really. I guess from the Lyrica. Is this normal for her to just want to lay down for most of the day?? Please I need reassurance, or the truth! Thanks- a very worried daughter!

Re: recovering from 3 level fusion Questions???

The medicine your mother is taking will make you feel very tired with Lyrica
I have heard once it is in your system for a period of time the side effect of tiredness does get better. That is a big surgery to have so it will take time to recover from it. I hope your mother is feeling better soon!
You might want to scroll down and post on the spinal board a lot of encouraging people are their.
Hope this helps!
