chapped lips wont heal

one day i woke up with the inside of my lips hurting and felt like i had a 'film' over them, they were also sensitive to spicy/hot food, the next day the outside of my lips were chapped and soar! they will not heal i use chapstick 24/7 the inside still feels like theres something covering the skin and my outside lips are still chapped and burn, they arent red. should i see my doctor, what could this be?

You may be allergic to lipstick. I was many years ago and could not wear lipstick for 2 years and then had to find a different brand.

Re: chapped lips wont heal

Is the skin on the inside of your lips loose if you rub them with your tongue? Sometimes my toothpaste or mouthwassh makes the skin raw in my mouth and after a few raw the skin becomes white loose and rubs off. If I eat foods that have alot of vinegar in them the same things happens but I loose the skin on my tongue and roof of my mouth.

Your lips shed their skin too. This might be happeing to you.

Yes, you should see a doctor. Maybe a dentist.

It sounds like you could have eaten something that your body didn't agree with. Similar things happen to me when I eat kiwi or really hot, spicy things.

But it could be something more serious, and it is a good idea to see a doctor.

I don't think it's anything serious. It takes my mouth a good week to week and 1/2 before it's back to normal after having acid foods. Especially after vinegar and salt chips. My tongue turns white, peels in sheets then the roof and sides peel and lastly my lips. If a dentisit or a regular GP can make you feel better I say make an appointment.
