Drinking Expired Milk, What Can Happen?

Good Day Everyone!!

Hopefully this is the right spot to post this, so here it goes.... Last night my wife & 2 year old daughter both drank expired Vanilla Milk. It expired back on July 10th, and last night was August 12th, so just about a month old. My wife bought it at a grocery store, and didn't check the date, probably assuming it wouldn't be an expired product.

Anyways... From what my wife said, they both didn't drink very much. So my question is, what can happen from drinking expired milk? What are side effects?

Thanks to anyone who answers,

Brutus Branyon

If they didn't get sick to their stomachs or vomit, then they should be ok. I'm surprised it didn't taste sour!

maybe it expired on the 10th of august instead of july and whoever marked the carton, marked it wrong. maybe thats a reason it didnt taste sour and they didnt get sick. usually the milk would be clumpy if it was off.

I tend to agree with you.

I was a food science major in college and on the dairy food evaluation team. Most dairy products will be fine after the expiration date. It's a matter of if the product had soured or not. It sounds like it was fine. Other than maybe nausea there really aren't any type of side effects that would pose a great health risk.
