TIghtness inside head no painso much so felt like something was going to happen to me - Open to All Other Health Topics Message Board

HI, I went to the emergency last night no alcohol, no drugs, never have anxiety, because My head kept feeling tight inside my head. Like constant pressure like making a fist inside my head. I started to panic, then calmed down. ANd the pressure in my head kept increasing even when I was calm . There is no pain associated with this. I was just watching a movie and I popped up felt like I had to get up felt wier the got increased tightness and pressure inside my head. Please lI got a cat scan and the doctor said he did not really see anything but wanted me to get an MRI> Is there something a cat scan could not catch that an MRI would. I did not even have insurance. I would never go to an emergency room unless I felt something really wasn't right. I am not one to get sick or anything. Please help see if I should worry. I am still feeling tightness in my head as we speak. I did not want to do something stupid and not go to hospital and something happen. pleasehelp...

Hi,

This may seem left field but some forms of epilepsy can feel like the symptoms you describe. If this is the case then you likely had what is called a petit mal as you remained concious throughout. However, a heavy sense of foreboding is often associated with it together with a strong sense of deja vu.

There are all sorts of epilepsy. Some are triggered by colour, light or even reading. It can also happen at any age.

Discuss this with your doctor if the CAT & MRI prove inconclusive. The test is called an EEG and is non-invasive.

an MRI with contrast(just highlights better)would show more of the hidden areas and also the vascular structures much more clearly.this could be some sort of a vascular thing.or even muscular.it isn't always something really bad that can cause a bit of neuro or head wierdness to occur.it could be stemming from any number of things.but an MRI would help to at least rule them out or something in.the fact that there was not pain,just the tightness could mean its just a muscle issue.an MRI is really what i would have done next.upper neck muscle tension can also cause some pretty strange feelings that feel like they are inside our heads,just because of how the muscles run and how they can also effect blood flow and nerves.hopefully this was just a one time head wierdness thing that wont happen again,but that MRI would be good.hope all goes well for you,please keep us posted.
