Unless you are taking iron suppliments, black stools should be treated very seriously and not wanting to take a day off should be the last thing on your mind.
Black stool normally indicates bleeding from either the stomach or from the small intestine. The fact that you are tired all the time indicates you have severe anemia, which is due to bloodloss.
Now before you get worried about cancer, unless you are over the age of 60 it is very unlikely to be cancer. It could be a ulcer, but it could also be Gastritis. It can be 1001 non serious conditions, but it is unlikely to be something that will just go away on its own.
Get to the doctors!
