After ultrasound at my thyroid, they found a 'large complex nodule in the right lobe, measuring 3.4 cm in maximal diameter, characterized by cystic and solid component. It demonstrate vascularity. The etiology is indeterminate'
I also have a 'small hypoechoic nodule' in the left lobe.

Bloodwork returned fine, except a slightly high bilirubin, 1.5 mg/dL (should be under 1.2)

After FNA biopsy, I got this:
'Moderately cellular specimen compsoed of papillary sheets of follicular cells showing mild nuclear atypia (increased nuclear/cytoplasmic ratio, nuclear grooves and rare small intranuclear cytoplasmic inclusions). Numerous hemosiderin laden macrophages are present in the background. Impression: the findings are suspicious for papillary carcinoma'.

Is it cancer or not?

Most of the report describes the cellular construction and type of growth that your biopsied tissue shows.

The most important thing to look at is the last line. "Impression" means that they have not yet drawn a conclusion. "Suspicious" means that they believe it to be but have not yet determined. Given the other things in the report and previous cases, they are "suspicious".

"Carcinoma" is cancer. I hope this is not the case for you. I am rather surprised that the doctors did not discuss the preliminary findings with you rather than just let you have a report. I was a billing clerk and medical transcriptionist for a chemosurgeon 18 years ago. He never let any patient see their records until he had talked with them first.

My deepest best wishes for you and if it is, that you get the appropriate treatment to get this situation taken care of.

The endocrinologist actually discussed the findings with me in person. He said 80 - 85 % it's cancer.

I want other opinions, based on what the report shows.
