Arrow Muscle Pain. Right shoulder, right chest, upper arm and abdomen (right side of body)

3 evenings ago while laying back watching TV ( and after having eaten an apple while reclined ) I experienced some, what feels to be muscle pain on the right side of my upper body, top of shoulder, upper right arm and right chest. The pain was not always constant in 1 area but seemed to radiate from spot to spot and at times would linger in the 3 places I described. After a while it subsided and I went to sleep to wake with a little discomfort felt thru out the next day.
The second evening I was feeling a bit more uncomfortable so I took some ibuprofen and went to sleep. Around 3am I awoke with terrible pain to the 3 areas I described. I cannot lie on my side or stomach as I normally do, and I must sleep as if sitting, slightly reclined, or it hurts terribly. To breath deep is to experience pain in my lower chest and the muscle pain comes and goes but usually worse in the evening.
I have no other symptoms such as fever, nausea and so on, just pain on the right side of my body and very little sleep. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Re: Right shoulder, right chest, upper arm and abdomen muscle pain (right side of bod

I suggest you go to the ER or make an emergency appointment with your family doctor. Right sided chest pain could be something serious, especially with what sounds like lung involvement. Pulmonary embolism, pleurisy, or liver disease can cause right side chest pain.

Maybe you just strained some (alot) muscles? Or cracked a rib without knowing it - but ya gotta get it checked out! Go to a medi-clinic if you don't have a regular doc and don't want to wait in a crowded ER.
