I had hip replacement surgery Sept 2008. I am 64 and other than an arthritic hip in good health. The surgery went very well. When in hospital I received 3 units of blood. The 12 weeks after surgery was not a walk in the park. When my doctor told me to start putting full weight on my leg, I threw away the crutches and used a cane. I have made an excellent recovery walking pain free and unaided. I have not walked so well in a long time. Here is the question, I have just begun to get back into a normal routine but tire easily. I listen to my body and take a nap when I need to. I find it frustrating that my body won't let me do all that I want to do in a day. I am still healing from the surgery as it has been over 4 months since surgery. My husband tells me there is something wrong when I feel exhausted and need to have a nap. I think he is being unfair after all I am 64. I hate being pressured to push myself past my limits. Is it reasonable to expect the healing to take 6 mths to a year.
