Buzzing in the base of my head - Open to All Other Health Topics Message Board

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I joined because I've become curious about this buzzing that I've been experiencing for as long as I can remember. I haven't really told anyone about it because I assumed it was normal. iI am a 19 year old woman. Basically, it's this buzzing that I feel in the base of my head, it lasts only a few seconds (up to 10 seconds at a time) and I experience this about 5 times a day. There is no pattern with it, it doesn't happen at any specific times or places. There is nothing wrong with me that I know of, other than being overweight. I am blind in one eye that I developed when I was about 2/3. I have a history of insomnia, anxiety, and depression related issues (I was diagnosed with them, but only have taken meds for insomnia). I get headaches and migraines sometimes.

That's about it. If you have any questions to help me figure this out, please feel free to ask.

Do you know what a rainstick is? I get that sound it the back of my neck like that- no rhyme or reason.

Yea, it sort of sounds like that. I get it right at the back of my neck... right where the base of my head is.

disjointedj, have just read your thread and I am also experiencing what you are, for about 2 months now, just before I drop off to sleep I get this vibrating/buzzing sensation which starts at the back of my neck and moves to cover my face/head, its not a sound just a feeling which only lasts about 30 secs, Ive asked my gp about it but she doesnt know what it could be and put it down to the fact that I suffer from migraines, although I dont always have a migraine when I get this sensation. Sounds like there may be a link there if you also have migraine.

if you are withdrawing from meds there is something called brain shivers or zaps.
