I'm a 24 year old girl who was walking the dog with my husband one night and found myself suddenly feeling really weak and "fuzzy," like my head was floating away from me. Upon returning home, I started shaking uncontrollably and the fuzziness felt like I was about to pass out. I also had a tightness in my chest that made it feel like I wasn't getting enough air. Not so much that I couldn't breathe, but enough to notice that it wasn't normal. I went to the ER and got all kinds of tests...an EKG, blood work, even a chest x-ray. Nothing showed up, other than my white blood cell count being slightly higher (but was the same result as an earlier test last year, so prob normal). They gave me a saline IV drip and had me drink potassium, and I felt 100% better when I left. I chalked it up to dehydration maybe. Vowed to drink lots of water.
A week later, I headed to Hawaii for a much-needed vacation. The second day, we went snorkeling and surfing, and I got a slight sunburn on my hairline. Didn't get back to have dinner until about 8:30 pm, but I had a full meal of shrimp pasta and bread. Had about two bites of carrot cake, then suddenly, wham! Fuzziness started again. Looking at the hanging lamp above the table made me feel really sick, and I broke out in a cold sweat. Drank lots of water, went home and slept. Woke up the next morning feeling exactly how I felt before I went to the ER last time. Was really worried! Family went to get the car to take me to ER again and I threw up...suddenly, symptoms GONE. Back to normal. Weak and tired, but not dizzy or nauseous or shaky. What the heck?
Pushed myself through the rest of the week, with symptoms coming on and off. Generally the most nauseous or lightheaded in morning or late night hours. Didn't feel like eating, but I tried and even made sure to drink breakfast shakes. Wondered if it could be my sinus allergies acting up? Took allergy meds and used Neti pot, seemed to help sometimes, other times still felt weak. All week I've had this tightness in my chest and just the general "something's wrong with me" feeling. Yes, I've had allergies (not the sneezing kind, more of the dizzy, congested sinus kind) and low blood sugar most of my life, but it's never hit me to this extreme before. This is two straight weeks of not feeling well, and ruining my vacation. I will be making an appointment with my MD now that I'm home (though I just moved, so this will be a brand new one), but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or can recommend what I should tell the doctor, or what tests I might need? Could this be allergy related? I usually take a dose of generic "multi-symptom allergy/sinus" meds every day...I've tried the Claritin or similar stuff, and it only raises my blood pressure til I hear ringing. Sinus type meds are the only thing that usually works. I don't know why this is suddenly hitting me like this every day. I thought the first time was just an isolated incident, but I realize now that I've felt pretty icky since then, just in varying levels.
It could be allergies. They can really play havoc with your body. Anxiety can cause the symptoms to be worse, so try not to panic when you get the "fuzzy" feeling. You might have an inner ear virus. Have you had a pregnancy test? Could that be a posssibility? I wish you well.

Reason: forgot something

Definitely NOT pregnant. That's the first thing they checked at the ER, haha! I do think it could be allergies or sinus symptoms, as using a Neti pot seems to help with some of the dizziness. However, I'm not able to get a dr. appointment for the next two weeks, and you need a referral through my medical provider to see an allergist. I don't want to have to wait another two weeks after the first appointment; I can hardly stand to wait for that one! It's a scary feeling. Does anyone know how you get into an ENT or allergist quickly? Can you go to one outside of your medical provider? I've never seen one.
UPDATE: I was able to see a doctor a few days ago, and he also thinks it's sinus related and that the scary episodes might have had a migraine attack in them, too. I was given Claritin and a steroid nasal spray to take, and since I've tried them, at least the dizziness has gone away and I seem to be a little more "present." That's good. The part that HASN'T gone away or been affected at all in the past 3 weeks is my chest feeling pressure/tightness and a shortness of breath. They did another EKG and said it isn't my heart, and they also didn't hear any fluid in the lungs. Is there another test anyone can recommend that might show what's causing this?
Also, I've STILL been nauseous every day until late afternoon. If I eat anything, I can only manage a few bites without feeling like throwing up. I usually am able to eat dinner just fine, oddly enough. Yesterday even the smell of my husband's breakfast burrito made me lose it. Yes, I know, it sounds like morning sickness, but again, they already checked that twice and I'm not. I'm surviving on Slim Fast shakes, but I know that can't be good for my body. And I'm tired of it, literally every day! Anyone had experience with this?
I am having similar issues. I get nausea almost every day. I am extremely tired. I get weird fizzle sounds in the back of my head/neck lately (that is new). I have trouble breathing and shortness or breath I get very lightheaded. I also went to the ER once for trouble breathing and the bloodtest also showed just elevated white blood cells, and they suggested it could be some sort of virus. I got saline and potassium as well and felt better. But it keeps coming back. I also feel constriction in my thought and nose. I got some nasal spray, and it helps a little with the breathing, but I want to know what all these symptoms are and what is going on with me. I just feel crappy everyday. Symptoms are worse in the morning and I night. I also yawn a lot and sometimes have trouble speaking because I feel so short of breath. Any ideas anyone?
