dermatomyositis and blood vessels
I have had a diagnosis of amyopathic dermatomyositis since 2005. The myositis diseases are in the family of "inflammatory myopathy" and "autoimmune". They are diagnosed via biopsy and blood work.
Often I have read "dermatomyositis is just like myositis but with a rash". The myositis family of diseases are rare, so they are under-researched and even rheumatologists often lack experiences treating them.
When you really really study it more widely though, dermatomyositis stems from inflamed blood vessels that attack the body and most often - muscles and skin. Whereas myositis stems from cellular changes that begin in the muscles without the inflamed blood vessels.
I have been trying forever to find professionals or more information on this point. I would also like to know the name of the type of doctor that you go to for blood vessel problems.
