I am 14 years old, fairly healthy, and am having a jaw problem. For the past two days I have had occasional pressure right under my cheekbones. Today I noticed that after the pressure happened 9-10 times throughout the day, my jaw was stiffening up and would not open as easily. the muscles under my cheekbone feel tense and tight. Please help I am very scared.
Grinding or clenching your teeth, often without even knowing it, is called bruxism, it's one of the most common causes of jaw problems. Misaligned teeth is another big cause, you'll need to see your family doc or dentist for treatment.
Here's an info page on bruxism: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001413.htm
