I had both my hips replaced due to osteoarthritis. The left done in Nov. 09 and the right 8 weeks later Jan 10. Very easy, quick recovery and back to work in 3 and 4 weeks respectively. I was 57 years old at the time and in good health and somewhat fit. Anyway...the original pain is gone (bone on bone in the joint) BUT I have NEVER regained the full strength and control of the hipflexors. I still experience muscle "stiffness" type pain at the tops of both thighs. I used to be very quick on my feet but now I have to be careful not to trip because I don;t have the quick response to "right" myself. I can exercise...eliptical 50 minutes at a pop, but I have no real enduring strength in those muscles. I cannot run anymore. I think because of the impact. I can walk and I do a lot but not at the quick pace I used to. I wish I didn;t have this pretty constant muscle pain right at the top of the thighs. Has anyone else experienced these changes??? Oh and please know I am very grateful for the surgery! Without it, I would go to work, come home and lay down. It did give me my life back but I am curious about this on going condition and change. Please respond. Thanks!
