| Re: Scared again!
Statistics cannot say what WE will get regardless, and age isn't an only factor in breast cancer. But the statistics can ease some of your worries initially so that you can start thinking logically.
There are also different types of breast cancer, and the treatments for early intervention are very successful.
The reality is that you have family health knowledge to become proactive regarding what testing you need to have done to set a good baseline for now. Get copies of all your test results.
We all have fears regarding health, some never get tested or even see a doctor because they fear the possibilities. You have choices. Absolutely seek genetic counselling or with a specialist to discuss how you're feeling. Try not to make it all about fear, however, make it about the reality.
It's good to hear your mom is doing well.
What are all the other illnesses you're dealing with?
What type of cancer did your dad die from?
You have a lot to deal with both physically and emotionally... and it's understandable that your mind is going in every which direction. Hang tough, gather your strength and your supports and deal with it head on. It's scarier now than it will be once you have some answers.
