Bright red blood in stool
Since yesterday I have had two bowel movements (one yesterday and one today) that produced a significant amount of bright red blood in my stool. It was on the actual toilet bowl, stool and also when I wiped. I have not had any red foods or drinks in my diet and my bowel movements aren't painful. I am currently also experiencing minor pain in my lower left side of my abdomen and I have been "sick" overall for the past 4 days with fever, body aches, fatigue and chest congestion. I've also been bloated for the past week or so and today I discovered I have gained 10 pounds in the past month, which is extremely abnormal for me especially since I walk far distances every day. I'm 21 years old with a medical history of stomach ulcers, acid reflux, a hiatal hernia and I've also had my gall bladder removed due to it being diseased. Seeing all of this blood really worried me. What could be the cause(s) of this and should I be concerned?
Re: Bright red blood in stool
Make an appt with a gastroenterologist, blood is never normal. This could be diverticulitis, fissures, hemmrhoids or polyps. Only a gastro can tell you what the problem is, probably do a colonsocopy, only way to get the answer.
