For around a year now I have had the extremely annoying sensation of needing to clear my throat roughly every two minutes. Nothing comes out when I do it. There doesn't appear to be anything blocking it.
I don't smoke, I drink a bit, I exercise quite a lot.
I saw an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist at Darlington hospital and he rammed a tube with a camera on the end up my nostril to look for things. He mentioned something about the possibility of it being post nasal drip or acid reflux but that he really couldn't see much.
He suggested that I ram salt solution through my nostrils but that didn't do anything either.
What can I do? It's not exactly dangerous but it's bloody annoying. I'm in final year at university and I'm attending interviews for jobs and I really need this to go. I certainly don't want it all my life.
My sister and I have the exact same thing. It's very annoying! I can't offer any help, my doc said its acid reflux also but the acid reflux meds don't help. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone. It's funny to talk to my sister, all we do is clear our throats. Good luck!

I did a sinus rinse twice a day for quite some time. It was such an annoyance. I had to prepare the solution and everything, it took forever. I haven't heard of decongestants. What are those?
Sudafed. I don't know what you callit over there but some antihistamines include it as the "D" component like in Zyrtec/Cetirizine D but you can purchase it separately. and yes, the nasal rinse has to be mixed but if it worked, it shouldn't be that big a deal.
