Abdomen Tender to Touch After Appendectomy

It has been almost two weeks since my appendectomy. Yesterday I noticed that my lower abdomen was tender to the touch. The spot is right in the middle above the incision where the drain was. The area just feels sore. The only problems I have at the incision site is that it hurts when I turn over in bed and it itches like crazy. The soreness started after I moved myself back to my room after being on the first floor for my first week home. I wonder if maybe I over did it. Any help you can give me would be great.

Re: Abdomen Tender to Touch After Appendectomy

Does the site feel warm to touch? Are your glands in your groin area swollen? What do your post opt instructions say? Sorry for the questions but that's what pop to mind. There should be a number on the post opt sheet for you to call. Or you could even call the nurses station or outpatient number where you were if you want to call after hours. Cathy

HI...Could be a left over stitch bothering you but I was always told that when a wound itches...that's a sign of healing. As long as it's not, ozzing, red, swollen.. it should heal well. Feel better
