Smile Re: Jaw and mouth numbness

Hi there,

Have you had your calcium levels and parathyroid levels checked lately? Your calcium levels could be low. I had low calcium levels and get numbness and tingling in fingers and toes but your lips and mouth can feel like that too.

Hope this helps you!
Take care,

Smileyhappy

Re: Jaw and mouth numbness

I have had TMJ myself in the past and I would wake up with a really sore jaw. I would find myself in the day clenching when I was stressed too.

Re: Jaw and mouth numbness

Hello so still experiencing mouthnumbness wondering if anyone has any insight, all of the following tests have been done:

CT SCAN HEAD - NORMAIL
MRI HEAD - FOCUS ON TRIGERNIAL AND GANGLION NERVES - NORMAL
SPINE MRI - NORMAL
THYROID BLOOD TESTS NUMEROUS NORMAL
SJORGREMS SYNDROME BLOOD TESTS - NORMAL
ANA BLOOD TESTS - NORMAL
B12 BLOOD TESTS - NORMAL
JAW XRAY - NORMAL
ELECTROMYOGRAPHY - NORMAL
GLUCOSE LEVELS - NORMAL

Been to two neuros - both say I'm fine in terms of neurology, been to two oral pathologists they dont see anything other than enamel on teeth wearing down but claim would not be causing the mouth tightness or numbness.

Any ideas to what can be causing it?

Re: Jaw and mouth numbness

Maybe you shouldn't discount TMJD. Before I found my diagnoses, I had numbness in my ears and nose. I had tons of testing too and multiple specialists ended up attributing the numbness to the TMJD.

Re: Jaw and mouth numbness

Hello been to two TMJ specialists definetely not TMJ, I do grink teeth yes but I do grind my teeth but apparently its not a contributing factor.

What I'm going through is I need to chew Bubble Gum thatt's the only thing that relieves me, when I'm not chewing mouth feels strange tight, picture your mouth with clamps on each side that''s what it feels like.

Any other ideas input from anyone going through the same thing like me.

Re: Jaw and mouth numbness

TMJD is frequently muscular and you can have some pretty severe tightness happening. I found a ton of relief with PT, manual therapy on my shoulders/neck/face, and trigger point release work on my face. In particular trigger point work actually done inside the mouth. It hurts like crazy, but with each treatment, I felt relief. It might be worth looking into.

Re: Jaw and mouth numbness

Now what I have which I had gew months agao and than went away is NAUSEA, feel it in my abdomen again in my throat, tongue is white coaded so not sure if the mouth numbness is attributed to acid reflux,d ocs don't believe so. Back in March I had an ultrasound and ct scan of my abdomen all they found was small polyps 5 mm on gallbladder but say its irrelevant to my symstoms.

I've tried Prevacid TeveRaberzole you name it all kinds of PPI pills. Even taking Black Walnut Capsules to treat fungai but still feel nausea here. So any insight is this all attributed to acid reflux? I have to add as well hate doing this my feces is brown but notice over the last few months has a certain foul stench to it, so not sure if its from the pills, or the overgrowth of candida that I apparently have.
