| 5th metacarpal fracture with fixation pins
i broke my pinky in a biking accident and because it was rotated over 40 degrees, required surgery with 2 pins. my question is this? my surgeon did not mention that i should be trying to move the finger at all in the 3-4 weeks that the pins will be in, but i have read that not moving it for 4-5 weeks could results in significant scar tissue-related stiffness that is sometimes quite difficult to overcome.
does anyone have an experience that suggest that there might be a school of thought that is not in line with keeping the finger still? i have a removable splint ...
