Broken wrist bone - Hamate
I'm hoping someone might be able to help a newbie
I fell over last week, landing on my hand. I went to A&E the next day and was diagnosed with a fractured hamate. My wrist was put in a cast and I was referred to the fracture clinic.
I went to my appointment at the fracture clinic today. The doctor touched various parts of my hand and asked if they hurt, only one position, near my pinky knuckle hurt - the doctor said this did not make sense.
He also looked at one of the x-rays (a front on view) and said he couldn't see anything. He looked at the side view and pointed out the fracture.
He ended up saying it wasn't my hamate but he didn't know what bone it was. It's been put in a lightweight cast and I've been told to come back to have it off in 3 weeks and that no further xrays will be necessary.
I also pointed out that I had been having pain from my pinky down to my elbow but he didn't seem interested.
My question is - is it worth asking my GP to refer me for a second opinion, and also, can anyone tell me what I've broken from the slighlty hazy xray I've attached. I can see what looks like a fragment of bone on the right hand side but I can also see a faint line about 2/3rds up one of the bones...
