Continued pain after torn medial meniscus surgery

Ten months ago I tore my medial meniscus while jogging. About three months later I had surgery to smooth out the torn cartilage. I was told this was minor and I would be fine a few days after the surgery. Well it still hurts and the pain causes me to have trouble sleeping and I can no longer run. My orthopedist says everything looks fine. I am wondering if the bones are coming into contact where the cartilage was removed or if something else is wrong. Is a rheumatologist someone I should be seeing and not the orthopedist?
