Pain at the top of my leg

Hello! Ok so I am posting this on here because I don't agree with any of my doctors opinions.

For well over 2 months now ive had really bad muscle pain at the top of my leg (just by the groin).
Its uncomfortable to sit in most postions, the pain is constant but can increase randomly.

I have theories of my own about the pain, 1 could be that ive recently put on a fair bit of weight and that the added weight is causing pressure on my leg and the other is that the cold weather is just effecting it.

My doctor believes I have just strained it and that taking paracetamol will cure it, I have tried this and no dice! plus..a strained muscle surely doesn't last 2 months?

Any ideas?
