PTTD recovery

I am a 40 yr old female with recent (june 2012) PTTD surgery with all the bells and whistles .... gast. resection, calcaneous ost. FDL transfer....

I have had other surgery in the past but never had to take pain meds past a few days.... This is another story. My question is how long is NORMAL to take the pain meds.. Im 11 weeks out... FWB and trying to increase the amount I can walk so I can return to work at week 12. Im a very active person so this is a life changer... Its not like Im taking alot... Lortab 5's half to whole 2-3 times a day. Ive tried straight Tylenol which doesnt cut it. I just dont want to get dependent on them...

I would appreciate any feedback from those who have actually experienced it.
THANKS!!
