Hiya all, my first post so please be gentle!
Back in February I had a operation for impingement syndrome. I also have arthritis in the joint. All this started when I had a nasty road traffic accident in 2003. I have suffered with the impingement pain until I had the operation, which now has ceased
Since I've had this operation I am finding that I only have full movement when I've not moved it for a long time. Then as soon as I use it it feels as though it swells up and at best I get 90 degree forward movement.
To aid recovery I've had acupuncture, physio and the latest is ultrasound to try and give the joint more movement and to try and stop this swelling.
But nothing seems to be helping!
My surgeon thinks I may have scar tissue and if physio fails then it may need another operation.
Having looked on-line I cannot see my symptoms at all and I am at a aloss as to what's happening.
If I've not slept on it during the night I have almost full movement in the joint till I move it. If I have slept on it I have the swollen feeling straight from getting up. I am still in alot of pain, although it is not the same kind of pain as the impingement pain. It feels like the joint is cramping up, especially when movement is starting to restrict. It is painful to be touched in one particular spot (about 1cm above my armpit crease, and about 2 cm in length) Could this be the arthritis?
Does anyone have any idea on what is going on- is it due to scar tissue? Or is there a possibility of something else?
