cortisone shot not working

Has anyone ever had a cortisone shot in the knee that did not help with pain?

I haven't had one in my knee, but I had one in my ankle which didn't do anything to help!

If you have bone on bone in the knee, I doubt a steroid injection would stop the pain of bone rubbing on bone. It would help the inflammation.
